Physical Exposure Merely to Sustain

Kathmandu- It has been a necessity for Nepalese heroines to be more glamorous for their long-term career in film industry. Actresses with professional acting strength who shy away with sexy or sensuous scenes have had a very tough time for getting film projects. This situation has left Nepalese actresses torn between two options: either mould oneself into a glamorous figure or say good-bye to filmy career.

Physical exposure has been a fashion both in Bollywood and Hollywood. Hollywood stunning stars Angelina Jolie and Julia Roberts have largely succeeded in alluring audiences with erotic scenes. So is the case with Bollywood actresses like Priyanka Chopra, Karina Kapoor, and Katrina Kaif among others. They seem to compete with one another for “Who is hotter and sexier than others?” There was a time when heroines would appear on the screen clad in dresses covering the whole body. In the first Nepali movie ‘Harischanda,’ a male artist has to disguise into a heroine after no females readied for the purpose. Nepali film industry has undergone drastic changes since then. Many an actress leaps to the front eagerly for screening in two-piece dress, bed-scenes and other erotic scenes like tongue-kissing. Some take a short-cut to physical-exposure on directors’ signal while some for popularity overnight with still others who meet only failures.

Among hot Nepali actresses, Rejina Upreti has also produced lots of sensuous scenes in her films. She displayed whole of her back naked on the river bank with water dripping in ‘Hangama’ released four years back. “I appeared hot and sexy for my survival in Nepali film industry,” said Upreti in a fretting voice. She has played a sexy lady in the films like ‘Kanun’, ‘Raju Raja Ram’, and recently released ‘Arjundev’.

Rekha Thapa who started her filmy career from “Hiro” is on the frontline among other glamorous heroines. She has won hearts of thousands of Nepali audience through her erotic, adventurous scenes and physical exposures. The simple reason for her working in a number of film projects is not only her status as wife to director Chhavi Ojha but also her sexy posture in films. Rekha has also established herself as a successful producer by making some films under her own banner production like ‘Himmat’, ‘Kismat’, ‘Kasle Choryo Man’ with ‘Hiphajat’ still in the making. “I will appear in mini-skirts till I reach 50 years as far as audiences prefer me in such get-up,” said Rekha enthusiastically.

Hricha Ghimire and Arunima Lamsal are also trying their glamorous roles after Rekha in Nepali films. Hricha has been busy shooting for several film projects due to her readiness for any hot scene. “I am ready for any scene as per the demand of the story,” said Hricha. Arunima was drawn into a big controversy after she offered a sensuous photo for the cover page of Saptahik Patrika. "It is natural to shoot in two-piece as film industry is a glamorous sector," said Arunima. Actress Nandina K.C. emerged sensational in Nepali film industry after a tongue-kiss scene with the most-wanted hero Rajesh Hamal in 'The Yugdekhi Yug Samma' similar to an amorous bed-scene shot between Saroj Khanal and Rupa Rana in 'Bijaya Parajaya'. Likwise, former Miss Nepal Jharana Bajracharya appeared hot with bra and shorts in "Love in Nepal" which starred Indian singer Sonu Nigam in the male lead. Other actresses who are after glamorous intoxication are Sonia K.C., Janu K.C., Yuna Upreti, Ranjana Sharma, Pooja Lama. It's no wonder that all-hit Niruta Sinha and Sanchita Luitel have also taken to appearing in glamorous color.
